UHY LLP is a national public accounting firm with 17 offices and nearly 800 employees delivering “The Next Level of Service” to our valued clients across multiple industries. Because of our growth, we are excited to announce the creation of this new Learning & Development Manager opportunity!

In this role you will assume responsibility for overall development and implementation of programs for professional staff with a focus on leadership, soft skills and growth of our employees.

What will you do?

  • Develop and conduct management training required at time of promotion around leadership skills
  • Coach management through crucial conversations with employees
  • Be able to satisfy 1:1 coaching as necessary
  • Confer with management and conduct surveys to identify training needs based on processes, changes, and other factors (including growth)
  • Develop and organize training manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials as needed.
  • Plan, develop and provide training and staff development programs using knowledge of the effectiveness of methods such as classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops
  • Analyze staff needs to develop new programs or modify and improve existing programs

Skills

What you will need?

  • Critical Thinking – Must develop or assess programs/materials that will help employees understand the subjects being taught. Will have to understand the needs of the employees and judge effectiveness.
  • Decision Making – Must decide the best programs to develop employees and meet the needs of the organization.
  • Communication Skills – Must be able to speak in front of large groups of employees. Must be able to speak interpersonally with individuals, report to management and meet with vendors. They must be friendly, clear, strong speakers.
  • Management – Must be able to motivate and engage large groups of employees.
  • Ability to Travel – Be able to travel to different UHY sites to perform the job.

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as development, training or HR, Master’s Degree preferred. At least 5-7 years of employee development/coaching experience. Certifications in training are a plus.
  • Experience within the professional services industry (i.e. accounting firm, law firm etc.) is a big plus.
