THE FOCUS IS YOU:
The Real Estate Tax Senior is a key member of the tax department responsible for managing and overseeing the real estate tax compliance and consulting activities. This role involves working closely with clients, internal teams, and external partners to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting, compliance with tax regulations, and optimization of tax strategies.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Regular duties include (but are not limited to):
Tax Compliance Management:
- Prepare and review complex real estate tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations
- Collaborate with clients to gather necessary financial information and documentation for tax return preparation
- Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements that impact real estate taxation
Tax Strategy Development:
- Analyze clients' real estate portfolios to identify tax-saving opportunities and strategies for minimizing tax liabilities
- Provide guidance on tax implications related to real estate transactions, such as acquisitions, dispositions, and restructurings
- Collaborate with other tax professionals to develop comprehensive tax plans that align with clients' overall financial objectives
Client Engagement:
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients, addressing their real estate tax inquiries and concerns
- Build and maintain strong client relationships by delivering exceptional service and value through accurate advice and solutions
- Assist in developing new business opportunities by identifying potential areas for tax service expansion within existing clients
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, and accounting, to ensure cohesive strategies and compliance across departments
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior tax staff, offering support in complex tax matters and fostering their professional development
Research and Analysis:
- Conduct research on tax issues related to real estate transactions and ownership, providing insights for decision-making
- Prepare detailed written memoranda and reports explaining tax positions, implications, and recommendations
Process Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate and enhance internal tax processes, workflows, and documentation to increase efficiency and accuracy
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Experience
- 3-6 years in relevant position
- Public accounting or other professional services environment preferred
Education
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technology experience
- Bachelor’s in Accounting (for Audit or Tax)
License / Certification
- Must progress professionally by obtaining relevant certification as soon as possible if certification is not already attained in order to advance
- Must maintain required CPE credits annually
